A computer is an incredibly useful tool that
fulfills your kids’ educational and entertainment needs. But there are children
that are addicted to its use. Some parents are surprised the way their children
stay glued to their computers. However, it is necessary for you to limit your
kid from using his computer for kids
excessively. But unless you make the right approach in doing so, you might end
up in failure. The following are a few tips that could help you limit the
computer usage of your kids.
Talk
to your kids
The first thing is to talk to your kid in order to
learn the reasons for him to be with the computer for so long every day. Some
kids do this to escape from reality. If that is the case with your kid, you
must learn the reasons for the same and look for remedies. It will also help to
know how badly your kid is addicted to the computer. How many hours he will
spend in front of the computer and what he is doing also could provide some
clues to understand his problems.
Move
the computer to an open space
When your kid is allowed to be in his own room or in
a place others never happen to go very often, he could look at anything with no
disturbance from others in the house. This might lead him to view things he
must never view in the computer. When the computer is left in an open area,
everyone will see what he is doing and there will be a control on what he will
view. There is also the possibility of restricting your kid from visiting
websites he should not visit.
Praise
your kids for using educational material
There are some kids that are addicted on reading
educational material instead of watching cartoons. If your kid uses the
computer for long durations for such work it is not harmful for him. Instead of
restricting him from using the computer, you could encourage him to read
educational material. This could help him in his education also.
Set
a time limit
If your kid’s addiction to his computer for kids is for watching cartoons and playing computer
games, it is a good idea to set a time limit. This will restrict his computer
usage when he is young. As he grows up he will have his own time limits as he
will also have other things to do.
